The 48-hour token strike launched by the Government Medical Officers Association (GMOA) over several unresolved demands continues for the second consecutive day today (24).
The GMOA commenced the trade union action yesterday, citing the failure of the authorities to implement agreements reached to address six key demands. These include issues related to the revision of doctors’ DAT allowances, transportation allowances and research allowances.
Due to the ongoing strike, patients seeking treatment at hospitals across the country faced severe inconvenience.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Dr. Nalinda Jayatissa told Parliament yesterday that the ongoing strike action is unjustified.
