The Ministry of Public Administration, Provincial Councils and Local Government has launched digital signatures for state officials to improve efficiency and streamline official work.
Minister Dr. Chandana Abeyratne emphasized that the initiative is part of the government’s drive to digitize public services, ensuring faster and more effective delivery. The program, introduced under the Electronic Transactions Act No. 19 of 2006, began with officials of the Department of Home Affairs, with LankaPay serving as the certification authority.
The move is expected to reduce delays in correspondence and strengthen service delivery across all levels, including Grama Niladhari officers.
The launch event was attended by senior ministry officials, district and divisional secretaries, and key administrative officers.
