Chombo will be detained until the bail application is taken up by a Harare court on Monday (November 27).
The former Minister of Finance is among those detained by the military when it seized power before Robert Mugabe resigned.
Ignatius Chombo has been charged with three counts of corruption in offences which allegedly occurred more than a decade ago.
A former university lecturer and Mugabe ally, Chombo was promoted in an October cabinet reshuffle from the interior ministry to the finance portfolio.
