President Maithripala Sirisena is to leave for the UK today (8) on a three day private visit.
The President is travelling with his family to attend the graduation ceremony of his son Daham Sirisena in the UK.
It is believed that upon the President's return to the country, he would request the Supreme Court to determine the date from when his presidential term commenced - whether it was January 9, 2015 (when the Elections Commissioner announced he was elected president) or May 15, 2015 (when the 19th Amendment to the Constitution was implemented).
