A former Army commander, Field Marshal Sarath Fonseka is said to be pressurising current Army Commander general Mahesh Senanayake. Senanayake is said to have complained regarding this to President Maithripala Sirisena as well.
Sources say Minister Fonseka has been meddling in the affairs of the Army in the past and the current Commander has opposed this prompting him to inform the President of these issues.
