Two people were killed and three children sustained serious injuries after a three-wheeler plunged into Mohini Falls while travelling from Nallathanniya towards Maskeliya, police said.
According to police, the accident occurred when the three-wheeler veered off the road and fell into the waterfall.
The vehicle was carrying five occupants at the time of the incident, including two adults and three children.
The two adults died in the accident, while the three children suffered serious injuries. They were admitted to hospital for treatment.
Police have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
