Sri Lankan cricketer Nuwan Thushara has withdrawn the petition he filed before the Colombo District Court, in which he sought an interim injunction directing Sri Lanka Cricket to issue a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for his participation in international premier league tournaments, including the 2026 Indian Premier League.
The matter was taken up before court today (23), where President’s Counsel G.G. Arulpragasam, appearing on behalf of the petitioner, informed the court that several matches of the IPL had already been completed.
In light of this development, the petitioner decided not to proceed further with the application and requested permission from the court to withdraw the case.
Acting on the request, the Colombo District Court granted leave for the withdrawal and ordered that the petition be dismissed.
The case had been filed with the aim of securing the necessary clearance from Sri Lanka Cricket to allow participation in overseas franchise tournaments, including the ongoing IPL season. However, with the tournament already progressing, the legal action has now been formally brought to an end.
