A Colombo Municipal Council (CMC) office assistant has been arrested by the Walana Anti-Vice Unit on charges of selling heroin and crystal methamphetamine (Ice) to municipal employees.
According to police, the suspect had been operating from his office near Campbell Park, where he allegedly packaged and distributed the drugs to fellow council workers over a long period.
Following a tip-off, officers raided the premises on September 22 and seized more than 20 grams of heroin from his possession.
The 38-year-old suspect was taken into custody and later handed over to the Borella Police. He was produced before the Aluthkade Magistrate’s Court, which issued a detention order while investigations continue.
