The Ministry of Public Security says a decision has been taken to recruit 1000 female officers to the Police Department.
According to the Lankadeepa newspaper, the ministry states that the relevant Gazette notification in this regard will be issued within the next week.
The Public Security Ministry further said that interviews have commenced to recruit 5000 officers to the Police Department.
