The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested a woman who had allegedly insulted Buddhism during a stand-up comedy show recently held in Colombo.
“Natasha Edirisooriya who made disrespectful remarks on the Buddhist philosophy and culture, arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) while attempting to leave the country” Police said.
Both the woman and another individual who had posted the relevant video online have publicly apologised for the statements made.
