Heavy taxes will be levied on fruit imports going forward President Maithripala Sirisena has said.
"They will be taxed heavily so that imports will decrease" he said adding that instead local fruits will be promoted.
Going forward cutting down of fruit trees will also not be allowed without permission he claimed.
