Sri Lanka's President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has commended Brazilian voters following the return of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva to the presidency, describing the election outcome as a victory for democratic principles over political corruption and national division.
In a message posted on social media platform "X", President Dissanayake said that the electorate had decisively rejected political forces that attempted to fracture the nation.
He remarked that the Brazilian people had achieved more than an electoral win by defeating corruption, division, and political deception.
Furthermore, Dissanayake noted that Lula’s return demonstrated that voters could not be misled by bankrupt political dynasties or established interests attempting to assert authority over democratic rights.
Extending personal congratulations to the newly elected leader, the Sri Lankan president applauded him for securing public confidence once again to lead one of the world's largest democracies and guiding what he termed a march of progress.
