Two young men have been arrested after police allegedly found 350 grams of ‘Ice’, or crystal methamphetamine, in their possession following a road accident in Dorowwa, within the Kotadeniyawa Police Division.
The suspects, aged 21 and 25, were travelling on a motorcycle when it collided with a bus yesterday evening (06). Both sustained serious injuries in the crash and were initially admitted to Dambadeniya Hospital.
During investigations into the accident, officers attached to the Kotadeniyawa Police Station reportedly discovered packets containing the suspected narcotics inside bags belonging to the injured men.
The two suspects were subsequently placed under arrest and transferred to Kurunegala Hospital, where they are continuing to receive treatment under police protection.
Police said the suspects are residents of Grandpass and Wellampitiya.
Further investigations into the incident are being conducted by the Kotadeniyawa Police.
