The Road Development Authority (RDA) has generated Rs. 124,574,925 in revenue from vehicles using Sri Lanka’s expressway network during the two recent holidays on August 26 and 27.
According to the RDA, a total of 325,316 vehicles travelled across the expressway network during the two-day period.
On August 26, the expressways recorded 163,763 vehicles, generating revenue of Rs. 60,409,995.
The following day, August 27, saw 161,553 vehicles use the expressway network, with revenue increasing to Rs. 64,164,930.
Although the number of vehicles was slightly lower on August 27, revenue recorded on the day was higher than the previous day.
The Southern Expressway (E01) and the Outer Circular Expressway (E02) recorded the highest volumes of vehicular traffic during the two-day holiday period.
The figures highlight the substantial level of traffic using Sri Lanka’s expressway network during holiday periods, with more than 325,000 vehicles travelling across the network within just two days.
