A 31-year-old woman has been arrested at Rathmalana Beach while allegedly possessing 120,000 millilitres of illicit liquor valued at approximately Rs. 1.6 million.
The arrest was carried out by officers attached to the Mount Lavinia Divisional Crime Investigation Bureau under the supervision and direction of its Officer-in-Charge.
The suspect is a resident of Perera Mawatha in the Koralawella area of Moratuwa.
Following the arrest, she was handed over to officers at the Mount Lavinia Police Station for further action.
The suspect is due to be produced before the Mount Lavinia Magistrate’s Court.
