Eric Meyer Arrives in Colombo as New U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka

U.S. Ambassador-designate Eric Meyer has arrived in Colombo to take up his duties as the 29th United States Ambassador to Sri Lanka.

Following his arrival, Meyer said he was honoured to represent the United States in Sri Lanka and expressed his intention to build further on the existing relationship between the two countries.

“It is an honor to represent the United States in Sri Lanka,” Meyer said, adding that he looked forward to strengthening the foundation shared by the two democracies.

He identified advancing the U.S.-Sri Lanka partnership, creating new opportunities for American businesses and strengthening shared security interests among his key priorities.

Meyer also said he hoped to contribute to greater prosperity for both Americans and Sri Lankans.

Before his appointment to Sri Lanka, Meyer served as Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., at the U.S. Mission to Norway.

He previously held the position of Senior Bureau Official at the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs.
