The Commission on Public Sector Salaries and Pensions will commence its operations today (04) with the official opening of its office at 10.00 a.m. on Malalasekara Mawatha, Colombo 07.
The Commission was established under Extraordinary Gazette Notification No. 2494/05 issued on June 22, 2026, following a directive by President Anura Kumara Dissanayake to introduce reforms to the salary and pension systems of public sector employees.
According to the President’s Media Division, the Commission has been tasked with examining matters related to public sector salaries and pensions while promoting greater professionalism within the public service.
The Commission will also focus on recommending structural reforms aimed at modernising the public sector in line with technological advancements and global developments.
As part of its consultation process, the Commission will begin accepting views and proposals from trade unions, organisations and members of the public from tomorrow, the President’s Media Division stated.
