Rainy Conditions Expected to Ease Tomorrow Before Fresh Showers Return After August 6

The Department of Meteorology says the prevailing rainy weather conditions are expected to gradually ease from noon tomorrow (04).

Director General of the Department of Meteorology, Ajith Wijemannage, announced the forecast during a media briefing held at the Government Information Department today (03).

Despite the expected improvement, he said a typhoon is currently developing in the Pacific Ocean south of Japan, and its influence could lead to increased rainfall in Sri Lanka after August 6.

The Meteorology Department also noted that showers are likely to occur along the western slopes of the Central Highlands.

In addition, heavier rainfall is expected in the Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces, as well as the Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, with authorities continuing to monitor the evolving weather situation.
