The National Building Research Organisation (NBRO) has issued a Level 3 (Red/Evacuation) landslide early warning for several areas in the Kandy District as heavy rainfall continues to affect parts of the country.
The highest-level warning has been issued for the Divisional Secretariat areas of Pasbage Korale and Ganga Ihala Korale in Kandy District, with residents urged to remain alert.
The NBRO has also issued Level 2 (Amber) landslide warnings for Ududumbara and Udapalatha in Kandy District; Yatiyantota and Aranayaka in Kegalle District; Ambagamuwa, Norwood, Nuwara Eliya, Kothmale East, and Kothmale West in Nuwara Eliya District; and Opanayaka, Imbulpe, and Ratnapura in Ratnapura District.
In addition, Level 1 (Yellow) landslide warnings have been issued for Panwila and Medadumbara in Kandy District, Deraniyagala and Dehiowita in Kegalle District, and Nivitigala and Kuruwita in Ratnapura District.
According to the NBRO, all of the landslide early warnings will remain in effect until 9.00 a.m. tomorrow (04).
