The Colombo District Court on Tuesday (January 6) announced that it will delay the issuance of its order in the case filed by Member of Parliament Dayasiri Jayasekara until February 17.
Jayasekara has sought judicial intervention requesting the court to direct the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) to allow him to perform his duties as the party’s General Secretary without obstruction. Although the court was scheduled to deliver its ruling today, it informed parties that the decision would instead be delivered next month.
In his petition, Jayasekara pointed out that the District Court had previously issued orders recognizing him as the General Secretary of the SLFP. He has now asked the court to issue further directives to ensure that he is able to carry out the responsibilities of the position in line with that earlier ruling and without any form of interference.
