Sri Lanka Police have confirmed that extensive security arrangements will be in place for the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup Cricket Tournament, with a total of 1,500 police officers and 600 traffic police personnel assigned to ensure the safety of spectators.

The security operation is aimed at protecting both local and international fans attending the matches. Police have also issued a set of guidelines for the public, stressing that certain items will not be permitted inside stadium premises.

Spectators are strictly prohibited from carrying large travel bags, glass containers, drones, sharp instruments, narcotics, or alcoholic beverages into the venues. Authorities have urged attendees to cooperate with security checks to avoid delays and ensure smooth access.

In addition to uniformed officers, Sri Lanka Police stated that personnel in civilian clothing, along with intelligence officers, will be deployed in and around stadiums to enhance surveillance and maintain public safety.

The ICC T20 World Cup matches in Sri Lanka are scheduled to take place from February 7 to March 8, 2026. Games will be hosted at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Maligawatte and the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Stadium in Kurunduwatte, with Colombo serving as the main host city.
